Grading in Personify

How to open grades, review submissions, use analysis tools, set points, and assign grades.

This article covers everything to know about grading with Personify.

Open Grades

Go to the Manage tab. Find your course and click Grades to open the gradebook.

Check Progress Indicators

Next to each student, look at the symbol in the Status column:

  • In progress status icon = In progress
  • Past due or late status icon = Past due or late
  • Turned in status icon = Turned in
  • Graded status icon = Graded

Set Points Possible

At the very top of the Grades page, locate the row with the assignment name. Click the three-dot menu on the right side of that row. Select Set points possible and enter the total points, for example: 30. Always complete this step before grading any student work.

Set Deadlines

In the same three-dot menu on the assignment header row, select Set deadline. Choose the due date for the assignment.

Open Student Work

In the Grades list, find the student's row. Click View on the right to open their submission in the grading workspace. The integrity analysis will pop up alongside the student submission upon viewing. Inside the workspace, you can:

  1. Check assistant interaction by clickingAssistant history button to see the conversation the student had with any enabled assistants. Learn more about the different assistants and how they work here.
  2. Review Save History by clickingSave History button to see the progress the student was making while writing. For more information on history click here.
  3. View submitted drafts inSave History button to see any drafts the student turned in.
  4. View submitted files by clickingFiles button to see any files the student may have attached to their assignment.
  5. Leave comments by clickingComments button. Students can view these in their assignment preview under Comments.
  6. Use Grading Analysis by selectingAnalysis button, then opening the Grading tab. Grading Analysis uses the rubric you've set up for the assignment, so results will depend on the criteria you've defined. Learn how to create rubrics here.
  7. View multiple submissions quickly by selecting the arrows next to the student name, you will be able to quickly and seamlessly go from one student to the next.
  8. View word count (bottom right) to see how many words the student has typed on their submission.
  9. Export as a PDF (below word count) if you would like to turn in directly into your respective LMS.
  10. View date and time of the submission (top)Submission date button

Set Individual Grades

Using the grading navigation menu, selectGrade button to set a grade for the desired student. When you finish grading this student's assignment, you can use the leftLeft arrow or rightRight arrow arrows to move to the next student or return to the previous one.

Grade entry control

Unsubmit Assignments

Return to the Grades list. In a student's row, select Unsubmit assignment if you want the student to revise and resubmit.

Confirm Grades

After you set a grade, the status icon changes to the blue square with pencil. The score and percentage now display in the Total column.
